2.4Ghz VS 5.0GHz WiFi

최근에 새로운 무선 라우터로 바꾼 후, 비즈니스나 홈 Wifi 선택에 두개의 SSID가 보이는데요, 차이점이 뭐고, 또 어떤 것을 선택하는 것이 좋냐는 질문을 자주 듣습니다.Recently a lot of people are asking about the question what is difference between 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz Wifi, and which one is better to connect.;Two SSIDs show up when new wireless router is replaced to home or Business place.

현제 2.4 Ghz Wifi 네트웍은 포화상태이고, 장점중의 하나인 Long Range가 오히려 근접한 다른 2.4GB 라우터들과 많은 충돌을 일으킵니다.The fact is that 2.4 Wifi is more densely populated nowadays, and its long range feature is frequently causing the network collision many times.

5.0Ghz를 사용하려면, 컴퓨팅 기기의 Network Adapter가 5.0을 지원해야 하느데, 보통 최근에 구입한 Smart Phone은 5.0을 사용할 수 있지만, 3-4년 전에 구입한 렙탑, 테블렛, 데스트탑 컴퓨터는 보통 2.4만 접속 할 수 있습니다.Anyway computing device is required to have a network adapter (802.11a, 802311n, 802.11ac) supporting 5.0Ghz; latest smartphone can support 5.0, but 3-4 old device only can support 2.4.

5 GHz vs 2.4 GHz Wireless Networks
5GHz networks have been around for many years, utilizing 802.11a standards. 5GHz networks are not as popular as 2.4GHz wireless networks (802.11b or g) however, because 5Ghz equipment has always been more costly to deploy. This has made 2.4GHz networks an easy choice for many users, which in turn has allowed 2.4Ghz networks to become a well established standard.

802.11n standard is growing in popularity and it supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz clients. To get the most performance from 802.11n, 5GHz networks should be considered.

Dual band (5GHz & 2.4GHz) access points and network adapters are available and dual band network cards are already built into many laptops so switching between networks will become easier as time goes on.
