If your email is stored on an email server such as Exchange, when your mailbox reaches its upper limit your administrator might start limiting functionality. For example, at 90 MB you might get a warning, at 100 MB you might be unable to send email, and at 110 MB you might be unable to receive email.

Archive older items – Move old items you want to keep to an archive. You can create a separate Outlook Data File (.pst) that you can open from Outlook any time you need it. By default, Outlook automatically archives items at a regular interval. You can also archive items manually whenever you want. That way, you can decide which items to archive, when to archive them, and where to store them.

Groups in Office 365 let you choose a set of people that you wish to collaborate with and easily set up a collection of resources for those people to share. Resources such as a shared Outlook inbox, shared calendar or a document library for collaborating on files. You don’t have to worry about manually assigning permissions to all those resources because adding members to the group automatically gives them the permissions they need to the tools your group provides. Additionally, groups are the new and improved experience for what we used to use distribution lists or shared mailboxes to do.

Note: What's the difference between "public" and "private"? Public plans are visible by everyone in your organization. Private plans are only visible by people you've added to the plan. When people in your organization search for plans, only public plans come up in search results. Remember that when you make a plan public or private, you also make the Office 365 Group public or private.

Office 365 is SaaS providing an online version of the Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, One Note, Access, Lync, etc.) along with SharePoint, Lync and Exchange.

In contrast, Windows Azure is IaaS and PaaS. Windows Azure can be divided into Compute, Data Services, App Services, Networking and Store.



 Software as a Service (SaaS)
: In the SaaS model, customers are provided access to cloud-based application software, services and databases on a subscription or pay-per-use basis. Providers manage the infrastructure reducing the dependence and need for on-premises infrastructure. This has the effect to significantly reduce infrastructure costs for the customer and simplifies maintenance and support of the application, service or database as well. SaaS is sometimes referred to as “on-demand software”.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
: IaaS clouds offer computing resources often built on pools of hypervisors including Hyper-V or Xen or KVM or VMWare although they can also come in the form of physical resources as well. Virtual-machine disk image libraries, raw (block) and file-based storage, firewalls, load balancers, IP addresses, virtual local area networks (VLANs), and software bundles are resources also provided in this model.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)
: In the PaaS model, cloud providers deliver a computing platform, typically including operating system, programming language execution environment, database, and web server. Application developers can develop and run their software solutions on a cloud platform without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software layers. With some PaaS offers like Windows Azure, the underlying computer and storage resources scale automatically to match application demand so that the cloud user does not have to allocate resources manually.

Today I had a chance to setup Office 365 Premium-Nonprofit Subscription to KAANJ (Korean American Association of NJ. It was complicate process to register the subscription of nonprofit version to portal site, but it was successfully installed with help from excellent MS product support team.
Office 365 Premium have desktop version Office apps of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, and Outlook.
Additionally 1 TB size of OneDrive, Skype, SharePoint site, and many more online apps are available. Simply too good to be true.
Of course it supports email setup with custom domain name.
It is only $3.00/user/month to any non-profit organization with proper 501(c)(3) determination letter; it takes about 1-2 weeks to have the approval letter from Microsoft after submitting the application.

  • Solution:
    • Add a ‘;C:\Program Files\Google\Google Apps Sync” to the end of the string in the Variable value field. On 64bit Systems the location of installation my be changed from Program Files to Program Files(x86) depending on the version of the Googe Apps sync installed if this is the case then the path to add is “C:\Program Files(x86)\Google\Google Apps Sync” should be added to the end of the string in the Variable value field.
